Free Falling

Fall is officially here and like so many other gourd-loving friends of mine, I'm positively giddy. We've been experiencing some uncharacteristically warm weather here in the Bay Area, punctuated by dark gray "Karl the fog" laden days. Fall is a funny thing in this city. It's mostly cold, with a few weeks of hot, warm, summer weather that happens in September/ October, just in time for my favorite free festival: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.

As of this morning I am only waiting on one more piece until I can consider my fall wardrobe complete. That (lengthy) post is coming, but in the meantime I thought that I would share with you the vibe I'm aiming for this fall. Behold, my fall mood board.

You might notice that it's not all that different from my summer board, though the whole thing feels heavier and features more moody colors than what I put together three months ago. I'm swapping out blush for a pale blue, and experimenting with some tweed and knits in addition to the summer's suede. Also leather, though, more to come on that later.

So so tell me, what do you think? What's speaking to you this fall? Any hues you're drawn to in particular?

Summer Inspiration

I'm slowly chipping away at my big summer capsule reveal, and aiming to get that post up next week, but in the meantime I thought I would share some summer inspiration with you all. I outlined (an abbreviated) summer wish list here, and now I'd like to share a bit of the vibe I kept in mind while putting together my summer 40, and I'd like to do it with a good old fashioned

mood board.

This board features some of my favorite style bloggers. And the Sutro Baths in San Francisco. And popsicles. I love the contrast between the light wash and the dark jacket on Jessie Bush, and I am seriously digging the suede trend that's all over the scene these days. The silky slip/ boxy dresses in all the boutiques are just my style, and I am really excited to incorporate a few of my favorite olive green items into my summer wardrobe. The mood board palette is pretty much exactly what I will be working with for the next three months - mostly neutrals with hints of color and a few sleek patterns. I'm trying something different this season and omitting bold prints and colors. We'll see what happens!

What's inspiring you this summer? Any hues have you swooning? Any trends you're excited to play around with? I'd love to hear all about it!
